Bulletin Announcements – 11October 2015

  • Welcome back to term 4! Sunday school starts today and Play Group will start on 13 October. We hope that our families are excited to begin our last term for 2015. Just a reminder to come on time to help our children settle back into class and get ready to learn more about our great God. Also please pick them up from their class promptly after the service. It is awesome to see you all again!
  • The final Ladies Fellowship meetup for 2015 will be happening on 18th Oct, 10:30-12pm. We will be spending some time fellowshipping over morning tea, praying and discussing the topic of Quiet Times. For more information, please see Solan Chiu or Betty Wong.
  • Phil, Irene & Matthew Nicholson – our missionaries in Taiwan are back in Sydney for home assignment. A welcome lunch will be held on 18th Oct, 12:30pm at here, Strathfield. Please bring some food to share. There will be boiled rice provided. Please come along to hear from Phil & Irene about their ministry, how to pray for the people of Taiwan and encourage them.

Ariel writes – a weekly Scriptural devotion:

…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6 NIV)

Do not read this verse in some sentimental way. Listen to its profound truth and what it means for you. When my daughter started school they put her on an online Maths program. At first I would help her out but as she got better at Maths I started to take more of a backseat role. Now, she does the program on her own; and this is how a lot of us treat our relationship with God. He started me off and now I can do Christianity on my own. What a huge and stupid mistake this is! Just one part of Christianity is putting your sins to death. Now, if you think you can do this on your own you’ve been tricked my friend. My sinful nature is so big, dark, and scary that I can’t control it on my own. Not to mention all the others parts of my Christian faith I need help with. You see, the above verse tells me this; I, Ariel, am a spiritual wreck but my powerful Saviour, Jesus, began a good work in me when he saved me and he’ll be the one to finish it, not me.
