WS Strathfield Welcome! Connect with us Watch service online our kids program

Welcome to WS Strathfield!

Welcome! We’re glad you’re here.

WS Strathfield has two English speaking congregations.

Strathfield 9am & 4:30pm are energetic, multi-cultural, cross-generational congregations excited about the gospel of Jesus Christ! We maintain a tradition of strong biblical teaching through our Sunday services as well as our associated ministries. Our congregation has a culture of being committed to growing, serving, and training in ministry. Although we are part of a Chinese church, our ministry is to people of all backgrounds.

Church during Covid-19

Our Strathfield 9am and Strathfield 430pm Sunday services are currently all held online due to the current COVID-19 lockdown.

We are currently live-streaming our service on our YouTube Channel from 9am every Sunday, which is then made available for viewing whenever after that time. At the same, we are also hosting Zoom watch parties at 9am and 430pm on Sundays, for our two services, so we can still virtually attend church together as one family.

If you are interested in watching the service with fellow churchgoers on Zoom, or just want to find out more about WSCCC, get connected with us by filling in a response form or messaging us on Facebook and Instagram. Most of our updates are on social media so go follow us there to get our latest updates.

You can also check out our archive of sermon audios and online service videos on our Sermons page or on YouTube.

WS Strathfield also has small groups throughout the week that are currently comprised of online meetings. To find out more, you can reach out to us by clicking here.

Our Pastors

Andrew Bardsley

Andrew Bardsley

On the outside, Andrew looks like a regular north coast (Ballina!) surfie.  But on the inside, Andrew is a nerdy academic.  He completed a Master of Divinity (at Sydney Missionary and Bible College) and Master of Arts Theology (at Christ College), and loves to read and research.

Andrew also has a BA and DipEd and was a high school visual arts teacher. He loves using his creativity to come up with imaginative ways to explain God’s amazing message of freedom in the Bible and to help people know Christ and grow in Christ by digging deep into the treasure of God’s word.

Andrew is married to Krissie, and they have three children.  In his spare time, Andrew enjoys surfing, art, and exploring the great outdoors with his family.

Wayne Mok

Wayne Mok

Wayne is originally from Hong Kong, but spent much time moving between Australia, Canada, and the United States. Wayne and his new wife Veronica, who studied in Sydney, arrived at WSCCC in January 2020.

He studied theology at Wheaton College in the US and Regent College in Canada, and worked for churches in New York and Hong Kong before moving to Sydney. In his spare time, Wayne enjoys travelling, reading, watching basketball and anything jazz!

Morgan Powell

Morgan Powell

Morgan Powell brings a local and international flavour to our ministry team at WSCCC. Although he grew up and went to school in Bexley, in Sydney’s south, he has lived in East Africa, Los Angeles, and Jackson Hole. His travels have taken him from Morocco to Mexico.

Over 25 years ago, Morgan left accounting to go into full time Christian ministry. Morgan has served as a pastor, church planter, youth minister, teacher, and missions director in a variety of places such as Beverly Hills, West Pennant Hills in Australia; and Ecuador and Peru in South America. As a result, Morgan no longer knows which soccer team to support.

Happiness is a frame of mind. Morgan is equally happy with instant International Roast or a cold pour single origin coffee; a Mexican burrito or a Shanghai Xia Long Bao. As a result, Morgan has no idea what to order at Chatime. You’ll have to order for him.

But Morgan is single-minded when it comes to pastoral ministry. He brings his wisdom, life-experience, and pastoral know-how to care, grow, and strengthen us at WSCCC.

Morgan is married to Anna, who attended youth group and was a youth group leader at WSCCC back in the day. They are blessed with two resilient daughters who can survive 72 hour plane trips.

Daniel Chieng

Daniel Chieng

Youth Pastor

Dan works part-time as a youth pastor at WSCCC and part-time as a hospital pharmacist. He was born in Malaysia, and is fluent in English and Mandarin. He moved to Australia in high school and is a graduate of Sydney Missionary and Bible College. He is newly married to the lovely Kathryn.

Dan became a Christian when he was 14 years old at a youth camp. He received the calling to serve in ministry when God revealed to him that the harvests are plentiful but the workers are few (Matt 9:37-38). He is passionate about seeing more people coming to know Jesus!

Dan also enjoys a good bubble tea, badminton, catching up with friends, karaoke, Marvel movies and fishing. Hit Dan up if you’re also a keen fisherman like him!

Reaching Out

At WS Strathfield, we have a heart to reach out to the world with God’s love and truth. Jesus calls his followers to be ‘salt’ and ‘light’ and be a positive influence in the world around us. Jesus calls his followers to love each other. Jesus also calls us to teach people God’s truth and help people grow as his followers. This means we care about people. We care about justice. We care about the needy – locally and abroad. We care about everyone, including children and youth having the opportunity to hear the truth about Jesus. And we seek to reach out both in our local communities and around the world. To read more, click here.
