Ariel writes – a weekly Scriptural devotion:

His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. (Revelation 19:12 NIV)

Jesus is might, majesty, and mystery rolled into one. “His eyes are like blazing fire,…” Here we see his might. The dread that befalls both enemy and friend is the same. Both are filled with terror at the sight of those flaming eyes that can burn into the soul and both judge and kill at once. “…and on his head are many crowns.” Here we see his majesty. Not just one but many crowns are on his head. He is Lord of all the realms – in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. Nobility and sovereignty are his by divine right and all worship him on bended knee both willingly or not. “He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself.” Here we see the mystery that still enfolds him. It is a name. Elusive to all – both friend and foe. It is personal. His to own and know alone. We must all accept the fact that he is not fully ours to possess but we are fully his to own. Jesus – might, majesty, and mystery in one.
