Strathfield 9am Welcome COVID-19 RESPONSE CHURCH AT HOME

Church at Home

Due to the Covid-19 situation, and the necessary restrictions on public gatherings in order to protect the most vulnerable, there will be no church on site at WSCCC Strathfield 9am and 4:30pm – for now. We invite you to join us for online church at home – or wherever you are.

Here are two ways to enjoy church at home (or wherever you are):

  1. Join us in our Youtube service videos
  2. Use our interactive service outline to do church with your family or a small group

Both will be available here:

Strathfield 9am is one of three English speaking services of WSCCC.

We are an energetic, multi-cultural, cross-generational congregation excited about the gospel of Jesus Christ! Currently over 150 people across all ages regularly attend Strathfield 9am. We seek to maintain a tradition of strong biblical teaching through our Sunday services as well as our associated ministries. Our congregation has a culture of being committed to growing, serving, and training in ministry. Although we are part of a Chinese church, our ministry is to people of all backgrounds.

Each Sunday we gather together to sing songs praising Jesus, pray together and hear a 30 minute talk from the Bible. We end at about 10:15am, and then have morning tea together on the lawn. You can wear what you like, stay for as long or as little as you want, and can feel free to simply sit back and see what we are on about.

Babies, Toddlers, Kids & Youth

Cry Room

For parents with babies and toddlers there is a glass panelled soundproof cry room at the back of the hall where you are able to listen to and watch the service.

For toddlers who are happy to leave their parents, there is a crèche program downstairs.

Children’s Programs

For primary aged kids, we have excellent safe, fun and educational childrens’ programs running at the same time as our 9am service, where children can enjoy singing songs and exploring the Bible through teaching, craft and games.

High School Youth

High school aged youth are encouraged to take part in the strathfield 9am Sunday service, and then join in the Stick youth group after the service at 10:30am – 12:00pm. There is also the Glue youth group which meets on Friday nights at 7:30pm. Both youth groups meet during school terms.

Our Pastors

Andrew Bardsley

Andrew Bardsley

On the outside, Andrew looks like a regular north coast (Ballina!) surfie. But on the inside, Andrew is a nerdy academic – he loves to read and research. Now that he has finished a Master of Divinity (at Sydney Missionary and Bible College) and Master of Arts (Theology), he’s doing further study.

Andrew also has a BA and DipEd and was a high school visual arts teacher. He loves to use his creativity to come up with imaginative ways to explain God’s amazing message of freedom in the Bible.

Andrew is married to Krissie, and they have three young children.

Daniel Chieng

Daniel Chieng

Youth Pastor

Dan works part-time as a youth pastor at WSCCC and part-time as a hospital pharmacist. He was born in Malaysia, and is fluent in English and Mandarin.  He moved to Australia in high school and is a graduate of Sydney Missionary and Bible College. He is newly married to the lovely Kathryn.

Dan became a Christian when he was 14 years old at a youth camp.  He received the calling to serve in ministry when God revealed to him that the harvests are plentiful but the workers are few (Matt 9:37-38).  He is passionate about seeing more people coming to know Jesus!

Dan also enjoys a good bubble tea, badminton, catching up with friends, karaoke, Marvel movies and fishing.  Hit Dan up if you’re also a keen fisherman like him!

Reaching Out

At Strathfield 9am we have a heart to reach out to the world with God’s love and truth. Jesus calls his followers to be ‘salt’ and ‘light’ and be a positive influence in the world around us. Jesus calls his followers to love each other. Jesus also calls us to teach people God’s truth and help people grow as his followers. This means we care about people. We care about justice. We care about the needy – locally and abroad. We care about everyone, including children and youth having the opportunity to hear the truth about Jesus. And we seek to reach out both in our local communities and around the world.
