Ariel writes – a weekly Scriptural devotion:

Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. (Galatians 3:7 NIV)

How simple, how cheap, how light. With faith there is no complexity, no rituals or multiple tasks to perform. No entrance exams or difficult tests to pass. With faith there is no expense, no gold, silver, or cash required. No saving or savings are needed. With faith there is no burden, no heavy loads to bear. The weight of guilt, grief, and shame is lifted; and worries float away. Faith is freely given and those who come by faith are free but their freedom does not leave them disbanded. No, faith’s freedom embraces them into God’s family as children! Children of Abraham no less. Children of God’s favoured, beloved, and friend. And how highly we ought to speak of him who by faith left family, land, and friends. Who against hope still clung onto faith. Who in faith took God at his word. And who by faith led Isaac up the mountain. Thus, under great stress, insurmountable odds, and at great cost Abraham’s faith in God shone through. And why such great faith? Because he had a great God; and his God is our God too!
