Ariel writes – a weekly Scriptural devotion:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6-8)

“Do not be anxious about anything,…” What! How’s that possible? Anxiety is our middle name! When we’re kids we get anxious about lollies; either our friends have more than us or they want ours. As teenagers we get anxious about exams, boys, girls, shoes, tweets, hair styles, you name it! As young adults we get anxious about finding “the one”! When we do find the one we get anxious about getting married to “the one”! When we do marry “the one” we get anxious about having kids! And then when we do have kids they make us anxious! Finally when we get old enough we get anxious about dying. Our whole life, from the cradle to the grave, is one tightly wound up ball of anxiety but the truth is it needn’t be this way. Our lives have the possibility to be full of sweet serenity but for that to happen we must first do one thing – give every single anxiety over to God. Yes, of course, it’s easier said than done but the real question is how much do you trust your Heavenly Father with your anxieties? And that’s not a rhetorical question either!
