Ariel writes – a weekly scriptural devotion:
“No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” (John 8:11 NIV)
God-likeness – What does it look like? Here is a woman caught in adultery. The Jewish Leaders throw her before Jesus, like salivating dogs, looking to trap Him. Will He condemn her and have her stoned or will He ignore her sin and have her freed? Some people like to condemn sinners, like proud Pharisees they point fingers and throw disgusting looks. Quick to judge sinners, slow to forgive them. Others tend to ignore sins, they treat them as trivial and oh so common. Quick to forgive sins, slow to judge them. Notice, Jesus does neither. He forgives her but also condemns her sin. This is God-likeness! On the one hand, His love, grace, and mercy pours out and overflows, it covers, and clothes her in righteous dress. On the other hand, His staff, sceptre, and sword sharply falls upon her sin and severely cuts it in two. Oh, that we would do the same in our lives, in our homes, and in our churches! Yet, we thank you Lord Jesus for your God-likeness upon our souls and sins.

Manhood month is on and Sam Chan will be exploring topics such as fatherhood, work and sex. A great opportunity to think about and discuss these interesting topics with your friends.
Tickets on sale today (see one of the deacons)! This year we celebrate the 35th anniversary of the founding of our church. Together, our congregations will give thanks to God on Sunday, Nov 10, with a combined Thanksgiving Service at PLC School Croydon (10am), and in the evening a Thanksgiving Banquet at Rhodes Phoenix Restaurant (6pm). Mark this date in your calendars, as we join together as one church before God. Tickets for the seafood banquet will be on sale throughout September ($50 per adult, $20 per primary-school child). Please assist by booking whole tables of 12 with your friends.

Strathfield 9am Ladies Fellowship: Sunday 29th September 10.45am to 12.15pm at the home of Elizabeth Hing in Concord. The study is Chapter 6 on the topic of Character.
Children Ministry Announcement: We are at the end of term 3. Please note some important dates:
Sunday school: Today is the last day of term 3. We will have Holiday program on 22, 29 September and 6 October. First day of term 4 will start on 13 October. Thank you for the teachers/helpers and our children for a fun term! And have a safe holiday!
Play Group: 17 September is the last day for term 3. Term 4 will start 8 October.
2013 AGM Announcement: Notice is given hereby to all members to attend an Annual General Meeting called by the Diaconate, to be held on 13th October 2013at 12:30pm, at the Chapel of the church. In the agenda of the AGM, beside the regular items, there will be two special motions:
- To call Rev. Keith Noldt as a part-time interim minister of the church to serve the Strathfield 9am English congregation. His term will be one year and renewable.
- To call Pastor Andrew Bardsley as a full-time youth pastor of the church to serve the Strathfield 9am English congregation. His term will be three years and renewable.
(As these are special resolutions, 75% majority votes are required to pass these motions.)
Proxy Forms will be available from any deacon or minister and should be returned to deacon or minister or by fax or email to WSCCC. Deadline of Proxy Form to be received as valid vote is 11th October 2013, 12:30pm. Any Proxy Form received after the deadline becomes invalid and will not be counted.
