Bulletin Announcements – 22 September 2013

Ariel writes – a weekly scriptural devotion:

I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side. (Psalm 3:5-6 NIV)

King David is vulnerable and in danger. His son Absalom has stolen his throne and now seeks to kill him. Yet guarding the King are thousands of his fighting men and his mighty warriors too. But, it is not in earthly protection that David finds peace. No, David enjoys immediate and lasting peace because of who God is! Too oft we look to our earthy possessions for peace. For some it is our homes, our jobs, our finances. For others it is our spouses, our family, our friends. When turmoil or danger arises we seek them first, they act as our security. But then, why is it, when we lay to rest at night our hearts are still in turmoil? David on the other hand is fast asleep, even though he lays there still exposed, because he truly knows the Lord in active – protecting, sustaining, and watching over him. Stronger than any earthly protection is your heavenly Father who watches over you.

This year we celebrate the 35th anniversary of our church. Together, our congregations will give thanks to God on Sunday, Nov 10, with a combined Service at PLC (10am) and a Banquet at Rhodes Phoenix Restaurant (6pm). Tickets for the banquet will be on sale throughout September ($50 adult, $20 primary-school child). Please assist by booking whole tables of 12.

An announcement was made about Tom and Josh leaving Glue leadership, but this is not quite accurate. To clarify, Tom and Josh may need to leave Glue Leadership next year, depending on work commitments. However, they will not know for sure until later. We would like to apologise for this mistake. Please join us in praying that God will provide for Tom and Josh to stay on and continue their service of Jesus in leading at Glue. Whether they stay or go, there is a need for more leaders for Glue, so please also ask God to raise up leaders for this ministry.
