Online service, 13th September
Welcome to our CP10 service online
Good morning and welcome to our Sunday service! Thanks for joining us today as we gather online as a community of believers who seek to know our Saviour, Jesus better and to love others more deeply. We hope you enjoy today’s online service. Please contact our Pastor Chadd Hafer (chaddhafercp10@gmail.com) if you have any prayer requests or feedback from the online service.
Songs of worship
When we pray the Lord’s prayer,
Our father in heaven, hallowed be your name
Your kingdom come…
We are beseeching God’s ultimate rule to come forth. We are asking God to be our Ruler, our King. We know as Christians it WILL happen. But whilst we wait, we ask Him to give us strength and courage to preach his gospel.
Let us sing and implore God for his Kingdom to come, for strength to persevere.
Our God is mighty! He is mighty to save us, but not by conquering other nations. He saves us by dying on the cross for us. He rose from the grave to show us that we are not lost. Mighty is our Saviour!

September Questions series
Today’s Sermon: Pastor Chadd will be answering the question: ‘Is Christianity exclusive and does it crush diversity?’ (Colossians 3:1 – 17).
This month’s series is based on four questions from Rebecca McLaughlin’s book ‘Confronting Christianity: 12 Hard Questions For The World’s Largest Religion’. (Christianity Today’s ‘Book of the Year’ and The Gospel Coalition’s ‘Apologetics and Evangelism Book of the Year’). The two main goals of this series are:
- To help Christians gain confidence in and understanding of our faith.
- To learn how to respond to some important questions that sceptics and seekers may ask us about our Christian faith. You may want to consider who you could invite to join us during this series, or check it out online, in their own time.
Wednesday Evening Q&A/Discussion
There will be Zoom Q&A and discussion sessions on the Wednesday following each of these Sunday sermons at 7:30pm. You can join the meeting on Wednesday by clicking here.
CP Building project
Construction at CP is now underway! We thank God that we now have enough funds to cover the project. About 30% of the budget has been through interest-free loans, so this year’s budget (of $360,000) is to start the repayments. We ask our members to continue giving prayerfully and generously, especially during each of our bi-monthly special building fund offerings.

Congregational prayer
Pray for:
- Our church – that we will continue to be a loving and inclusive community that reaches out to all people, locally and globally, with the love of Christ.
- Wayne & Angela Chen, bringing the Gospel to the working class of Taiwan; they were recently involved in running the Special Needs Kid Family Evangelistic Camp.
- Thank God for the 17 people who accepted Christ at the camp in August; pray for their continued spiritual growth as they are discipled in nearby churches.
- Pray that the camp workers may be able to use their experiences to inspire Christian university students to get involved in future camps
Offertory
Financial giving towards gospel work is a way we Christians worship God in response to His generosity to us. This act of worship reminds us of our dependence on Him to supply all our needs, including paying for the church development project.
Let us give with thankful hearts as we remember all that God has done for us.

May this song be your prayer to God.
May you lean into the power of his love to renew you.
May you let his Spirit guide you.
Bible Reading
Today’s Bible reading is from Colossians 3:1-17
Living as Those Made Alive in Christ
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.[b] 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Sermon
Song of Response
Whilst we are a group of diverse people from different backgrounds. We are one family, one body – united by the love of Jesus.
Let us sing this song of thankfulness to God for choosing us to belong to this glorious body of Christ – the church.
