Ariel writes – a weekly Scriptural devotion:

…not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:25)

There is something that happens when Christians meet together – they encourage one another. They do this understanding how important it is to each-other’s faith in light of Jesus’ return. But it seems some early Christians were already in the habit of not meeting together. How sad it is when we choose not to be in fellowship with or use our gifts to encourage one another. It is also sad when Christians turn up to church but aren’t really there either. Some leaving church straight after the service, some not singing the songs, some looking at “other things” on their digital devices, and some falling asleep during the sermon! If you’re feeling a little convicted don’t worry, I am too. It’s far easier for our minds to get distracted over those exams, renovations, or medical tests, etc. The point is; meeting together takes effort, a strength of will, and a desire to be with each other and Jesus. So let us make the effort to not give up meeting together by being at church not only in body but in mind and spirit too.
