Our call to worship

As we begin today’s service please read with us from Psalm 117:1-2.

Paise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples.
For great is his love towards us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.

Praise the Lord.

Opening prayer

Lord God,

We know that you are powerful and holy. Help us to focus on you as we spend time today learning from the book of Ephesians.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Opening songs

Let’s sing our opening song that celebrates God’s grace for us.
O Come in humble prayer

Our second song focuses on the sufficency of Jesus. Never alone.

Announcements

Here are some items of news for us as a church family.

It will be on the 29th May 7:30-8:30pm. For further details, please contact Pastor Dan Chieng on dan.wsccc@gmail.com.
  • Missions Month – Who is my neighbour? Join us in June for missions month as we explore how Jesus radically redefines the phrase “Love thy Neighbour”. Come and hear our missionaries share what this has meant for them.

Congregational Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you that you are a loving God. Thank you that you give us the peace that we long for through Jesus’ death on the cross. We confess and repent for the times where we think we are in control and want to surrender to you.

We pray for Japan. We praise you that there are fewer deaths in the country than in others. We also pray that you might help people who do not yet know you turn to you for peace and purpose in their lives. We pray that many will see the relevance and power of God’s Word and respond to your free gift of eternal life. We also pray for wisdom, energy, and motivation for our missionaries as they serve you and share your gospel. We pray also as they help their churches with their online services.

We also pray for our music ministry. Thank you for the opportunity to sing together through our WS online services. Thank you for the singers and musicians who faithfully serve each week. We pray that people will be encouraged and find joy in praising God through music. We also pray for wisdom and guidance as the music ministry continues to adapt to changes regularly.

In His powerful name we pray,

Amen

Bible reading

The reading for today comes from Ephesians 3:1-13 (NIV)

For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles—

Surely you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to me for you, that is, the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly. In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets. This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.

I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power. Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. 10 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, 11 according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. 13 I ask you, therefore, not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory.

Offering Song

We come to a time in the service when we have the opportunity to worship God through offering, in giving back to the Lord a portion of what he has given to us. Even though we cannot all meet together in one building, we have still made our commitment to financially support our pastors, missionaries, and ongoing church expenses.

Because an offering bag cannot be passed around, please make your electronic offerings to church via these accounts.

Offering Prayer

Lord, thank you that you continue to sustain us financially as a church through electronic means. We pray that the money collected will be used wisely by our leaders for the work of the church, for the community around us and for the growth and glory of your kingdom. In Jesus name,
Amen.

Closing prayer and benediction

Please continue to contemplate all you have heard from Scripture today, and please take the opportunity this week to share with your family and friends.

As we approach the coming week, let’s finish with Paul’s blessing from 2 Corinthians 13

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all evermore.
