September SHUM (Surry Hills Urban Mission)

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’
Matthew 22:36

Surry Hills Urban Mission (SHUM) is an outreach to the marginalised around Central Railway Station. A team from CroydonPark@10 and Strathfield 9am will volunteer on Tuesday nights in September to share the Gospel through conversations and give out food to those who come along.

Whether you’re returning for another month or looking to be part of this urban mission for the first time, SHUM will provide you with an opportunity to actively be part of God’s mission in our own city. Through serving you will understand the material and spiritual needs of those living in the Surry Hills area. It offers an opportunity for us to demonstrate the love of Christ to people who are often ignored by mainstream society.

How can I be involved?

  • pray about this opportunity
  • volunteer your Tuesday nights in September

  • pray for SHUM  and those ignored by mainstream society
  • ask God to provide volunteers in September
