Covid-19 and our CP Service
Greetings to our guests and to all those who regularly attend CP10 (our Croydon Park English speaking service).
You are probably wondering what will be happening with our 10 am service in view of the recent government restrictions on meetings over 100 people? The Bible teaches us
“Do not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24 – 25
Sunday service as of Sunday 22nd March
Therefore, our church leaders have been working on plans to allow us to continue meeting in ways that are safe and according to government regulations. Our usual CP10 Sunday attendance is around 100 people, and our Croydon Park Mandarin service (that meets at some time in the chapel adjacent to our building) has a similar attendance. Therefore, (from this Sunday, 22 March 2020) we will now stagger these two services so that fewer than 100 people will be on our Croydon Park site at the same time.
- CP10 will now meet from 9:30 – 10:30 am,
- CPM will meet at 11 am.
- Our Kids Ministry will continue to meet from 10:00 am and will serve both the CP10 and the CPM congregations.
Homegroup church services
We will also begin home group church services to ensure that fewer of our CP10 members are meeting on site. We currently have 6 home groups that include more than 90% of our CP10 adults and families.
Therefore, on alternating weeks, 3 groups will be rostered to be on-site and 3 groups will be rostered to meet off-site. Services will be both live-streamed and recorded so that people can participate in our services at the same time, as well as at different times. Priority to regularly attend our Croydon Park services will be given to families who have children in our Kids Ministry. However, Kids Ministry materials will also be sent to families and home groups who can’t attend our Croydon Park services.
If you are a CP10 regular who is not in a homegroup, you may attend our Croydon Park service, or contact me about how to join an off-site gathering. Visitors are welcome to simply attend our Croydon Park Sunday service at 9:30 a.m. I’ll communicate more detailed instructions to our regulars through regular church channels, but please stay tuned to this site for ongoing updates. We will also clearly post this information on our Croydon Park fence so that our neighbours will be notified of what our church is doing during this time.
Please continue to pray for our church, community and nation as we face this challenging time. In dark times people will need to see light. Therefore, let’s remember the words of Jesus:
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14 – 16
