Online service 22/03/2020

Welcome

Hi, my name is Chadd Hafer, I’m the pastor of our Croydon Park congregation.

Welcome to our in-home service today, which has been designed to be interactive. If possible, then do this with other family or group members. But it’s also good if you’re doing this on your own. At different points, I’ll ask you to interact with the various sections in this service and to participate in this service through a Bible reading, prayer, worship songs, etc.

(Download the church bulletin for those wishing to also follow along a printable version).

Watch the introduction video before continuing (2:56)

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100

Song of worship

Play the song below and join the worship. You may also choose to worship in your own groups using your own instruments before continuing.

Announcements

While we currently exist in part as an online community, we remain a local community that desires to meet together, serve each other, and carry out Christ’s Great Commission.

Perhaps ask one person to read out loud the anncements and consider how you might respond to each one.

Gospel Series

I will be teaching us about the significance of Jesus miraculously feeding the multitudes. The Gospel Coalition has free online Bible studies available

St Paul’s Pantry Ministry

As Coronavirus spreads, some of our society’s most economically vulnerable people are being impacted the most. It’s also getting more difficult to bulk buy grocery items for the local food pantry. Therefore, will everyone please put one extra grocery item in your trolley this week and put it in our collection bins each Sunday? The basic needs include tinned foods, toiletries and cleaning detergents. Contact Yen or Parisa for more information.

CP10 Easter Baptisms

We’re pleased to announce that the following seven people have completed their preparations and plan to be baptized at the conclusion of our Easter Sunday service (12 April). (We’ll let everyone know if there are any changes to these plans due to coronavirus): Zac, Mandy, Thomas and Sandy, Daniel, Jayden and Harrison.

Young Women’s Fellowship Event

Unfortunately this event is now cancelled.

Update on coronavirus

Thank you to all who have been cautious and considerate in response to the virus. The church’s position is to comply with the NSW Department of Health guidelines:

  • Please isolate yourself at home for 14 days if you have returned from overseas or have come into close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19.
  • Please pay careful attention to personal hygiene, especially washing hands. It has been recommended to avoid shaking hands or hugging.
  • If you become sick with a cough or cold, although it is unlikely to be Covid-19, please stay at home until it resolves, out of consideration for others. Please read the detailed newsletter from the Diaconate.

Offertory song

We’re going to continue worshipping God through our offertory song.

Play the video to start the offertory song. We’ll also use this time for our regular members to give as an act of worship, and as a way of contributing to the ongoing ministries, mission, and daily operation of this church. Click the Give online button to pay using Apple Pay, Google Pay or your Card.

Prayer, Bible reading and Sermon

Today we continue our series in the three synoptic gospels: Matthew, Mark & Luke; Jesus Miraculously Feeds The Multitudes.

Play the next video to watch and listen to the prayer, Bible reading and Sermon (20:31).

Response and reflection

Play the the final song of response: “This Kingdom”. At the conclusion of this song, please take time to reflect on what you’ve heard. If you’re on your own then you may want to write down some personal responses. If you’re with others then take some time to share questions or reflections you may have, or ways in which you’ve been challenged by God’s word today.

Closing prayer and Fellowship

When you’ve completed your reflection time, please close in personal or group prayer.

If you are in a group, then take time to fellowship together. If you’re on your own, consider contacting someone else from our church to share your reflections on today’s service and how you’ve been challenged.

Don’t forget to ask each other how you can pray for one another during the coming week.

Have a good day. I look forward to sharing with you next week. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or prayer requests.

“Heavenly Father, thanks for the privilege of meeting with you and with one another today. Now go with us into the week ahead and help us to be your salt of the earth and light of the world. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen

Warmly, Chadd
