Online service, 12th July

Welcome to our CP10 service online

Hello everyone! We are delighted you can join us today. If this is your first visit, an especially warm welcome to you. We’d love to get to know you; if you’d like us to contact you please leave your details at the end of the service. Now, let’s start our time together with a welcome video from Dawson.

Songs of worship

As we begin in worship, let’s remember the reason why we come together as a church, since Jesus has given His life for us so we may be united as one, having a special relationship with Him.

Today as we look at Paul’s letters to the Thessalonians, we will reflect on what it is to be a Christian – specifically trusting and serving God, knowing He is the highest power, over anything else on earth.

Announcements

CP10ers, please remember your regular offerings and acts of service While we’re not physically meeting together, let’s continue on in our acts of worship through financial offerings and service to support the mission and ministries of Christ’s church. As the start of the Croydon Park phase of our building project draws closer, we need your help to reach our budget target and store chairs, tables and other furniture during the renovations. Further details are in the bulletin or contact Pastor Chadd or our deacons (Des and Anthony).

Other matters: We encourage you to download the bulletins for other announcements and to continuously pray for various ministries of the church.

Congregational prayer

As followers of Jesus, we have the awesome privilege to talk directly to our Heavenly Father anytime, all the time. Let’s take a few minutes now to talk to God: to praise and thank Him for the good gifts that we receive daily, to confess the wrongs that we’ve done and to bring our needs to before Him because our God is our refuge & strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

If you are attending this service with your family and friends, why not to pray together in your group. We’ve also provided some prayer points below to help you.

  • COVID-19 pandemic: for those who suffering and for governments around the world that they may have the wisdom to deal with health, social and economic impacts and care for the vulnerables.
  • WSCCC leaders as they consider how we might meet as a church in light of the building project and COVID restrictions.
  • The Wongs in Japan as they navigate the cultural issues living & shining as Christians in the midst of Shinto believers.

Offertory

Financial giving towards gospel work is a way we Christians worship God in response to His generosity to us.  This act of worship also reminds us of our dependence on Him to supply all our needs.

To our regular members, if you haven’t yet set up a regular electronic giving, we invite you now to prayerfully consider your response.  Below are our weekly budget to support various ministries and details to direct your offerings.

Bible Reading

Our Bible reading today is taken from 1 Thessalonians 1:4-10.  In this section of Paul’s letter, we read how despite severe suffering, the faith of the Thessalonians – shown through their lives – has become known everywhere.

1 Thessalonians 1:4-10

4 For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5 because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. 6 You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. 7 And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. 8 The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it, 9 for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

Song of Response

In hearing this message, let us apply it to our lives and be “Servants of the Gospel” – we have received the gospel, now we must live it.
