WSCCC Youth Pastor Role, 2024/2025

Part Time (up to 2.5 days/week)

Overall Role/Aim

The Youth Pastor is a key spiritual leader for the youth in the church. His aim is to grow the youth in their love for and obedience to Jesus. The Youth Pastor is expected to develop, oversee and coordinate the Youth Ministries at WSCCC. The Youth Pastor cares for the youth leaders, who in turn care for the youth.

Youth Pastor Core Responsibilities

The Youth Pastor is a member of the English pastoral team, with the following responsibilities:

1. Youth Ministries

Develop, oversee and coordinate the Youth Ministries at WSCCC through theological sound Bible teaching, evangelism, fellowship, pastoral care, training and equipping.

• • • Develop/adapt teaching curriculum for each of the youth groups and its implementation
  • • develop a yearly youth ministries calendar with events to fulfil the above purposes
  • • develop a yearly youth ministries budget with youth leaders
  • • be available for pastoral care for youth and families
  • • function as an escalation point for major pastoral care issues
  • facilitate the growth of spiritually mature youth into active leaders

2. Youth Leaders

Recruit, train, encourage and care for youth leaders

• • • be a role-model in Christian character and leadership
  • • ensure all youth leaders are faithfully teaching God’s word by growing them in their faith and equipping them with relevant skills
  • • provide pastoral care and support for youth leaders
  • develop strategic goals, processes and policies to support youth leaders

3. Sunday Services & Strathfield Congregation

• • • attend Strathfield English Service
  • • attend English Worship Committee meeting at least once per semester
  • preaching two to four times per year in total at Strathfield or Croydon Park

4. WSCCC Pastoral Staff Meetings and Teamwork on broader issues in the church

• • • attend WSCCC combined Pastors meetings once per semester
  • • update the pastoral team of relevant/significant youth ministry issues
  • • maintain a positive working relationship in Christ with other ministers and congregations
  • being aware of combined church events and issues through updates from pastoral team (such as Combined Baptism Services, Combined Church Services, Anniversary Services, AGMs, etc.)

5. Diaconate

• • • write monthly youth ministry reports to update Diaconate
  • may attend Diaconate meeting, if not conflicting with youth ministry commitment
